The Easiest Decision I Made While Planning My Wedding

Wedding planning is filled with lots of decisions—big + small. What color will your bridesmaids wear? What will you have for dinner? What will your guests do during cocktail hour? The list goes on + on.

Out of all of the hundreds of decisions I made, there was one that stood out to be the easiest. Choosing my shoes.

What? A girl making a simple choice about her shoes? Unheard of. And to be clear, I am the girl who has at least fifteen pairs of shoes but I typically wear booties, Birkenstocks, or my Rainbows. But for some reason, when it came time to choose my wedding shoes, it was the simplest decision. Here’s why:

First, I knew I wanted a small, block heel. Jeffrey is only a few inches taller than me, so I didn’t want to be too tall, but I knew I wanted some heel because frankly, who doesn’t want to rock some heels on their wedding day?

Second, I wanted something with support. The shoes I chose had a bit of ankle support, but my main concern was support around my toes. I have broken one of my pinky toes five times. I wanted it to be supported in case I broke it between the time I got engaged and the time I got married (thankfully, I didn’t).

Third, I didn’t want to spend too much money on my wedding shoes. The shoes were not that important to me, so while I wanted a high-quality shoe, I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on them. You can find them here for just over $81.

Fourth and finally, comfort. End of story. I had owned a knock-off pair from Target, in nude, that I had worn to most weddings I attended. I knew they were comfortable, supportive, and I would be okay to walk around in them and dance the night away in them.

With this easy decision, here is the biggest lesson I learned: No matter what, your feet will ache a bit by the end of your wedding, no matter what shoes you wear. And that’s okay.

What’s important is that you can strut in them, dance in them, and feel confident wearing them. Whether you choose to wear Louis Vuittons, shoes from Target, or even opt to go barefoot, make sure you feel confident.
