If you’re anything like me, learning every little thing that goes into being a photographer is overwhelming to say the least. I remember when I first really started to dive into my photography journey. After doing alllll the Googling and researching, it was very obvious that I needed to get an external hard drive if I wanted to keep my clients’ images safe. But even that turned out to be overwhelming. As a full-time wedding photographer and educator, I went through many trials and errors before I finally nailed down how to safely backup my images. I even discovered my hard drive holy grail along the way!

First and foremost, having an external hard drive is not enough to make sure your clients’ images are safe. I quickly learned how important it was to have the right hard drive, organize it appropriately, and store it safely. As a photographer, your clients are paying you a lot of money, trusting that you will deliver images; it’s your job to do everything you can to keep those images safe. Not only that, but your clients also sign a legally binding contract – no pressure 😅

And while you’re here, you can actually snag my FAVORITE external hard drive HERE. I have been a SanDisk SSD super-fan ever since I got my hands on it. Disclaimer: It’s expensive, but 100% worth it. An SSD is a solid-state drive. This means that there is no spinning like a typical hard drive disk. The real bonus in it being an SSD is that if you drop it, there’s no damage (unlike a spinning hard drive). All this to say: the SanDisk SSD is worth every penny.
