Hey there, friend; allow me to reintroduce myself! I’m Sarah Yates, a Southern California wedding photographer and photography educator. My sweet husband (Jeffrey) and I recently bought our first home in Orange County where we live with our roommate (and best kitty), Mia. 😉 Whether you’ve been here for awhile, or you’re new to the Sarah Yates Photo crew, I’d love to share just a few of my favorite things and passions.
A Bit About Myself
California has been my home since 2014, but I’m originally from Minnesota! I couldn’t possibly love where I live anymore. BUT, I love traveling back to Minnesota to visit my family and friends. If I’m not in Minnesota or doing home renovations, you can find me on the beach with a taco in my hand. 😎🌮 My deepest, truest passion is within meeting new people and documenting memories that will last a lifetime.
I’m often asked what my favorite part of my job is; and I love to share it. It’s been such a dream come true to have so many incredible opportunities to travel near and far to document love stories. As a past bride, I know what it’s like to search high and low trying to find the perfect photographer for your big day.
Photography Education
One of my biggest goals as not only a wedding photographer, but as a photography educator is to focus on preserving the integrity of your wedding day. Not only do I love capturing the authentic reactions and emotions, but I strive to ensure that my colors in my edits are just as they were on the day of your wedding. Keeping my editing true to color and true to life ensures two things. 1) Your photos will be timeless. Not ‘trendy’. 2) You’ll remember your day just as it was.Not only do I do my best to carry over this goal when providing education to other photographers, but I aim to simplify their lives. Whether that means nailing down a solid workflow for your editing, or how to communicate more effectively with clients, I love educating others.
